Arsene Wenger Interview – Arsenal ‘have every chance’
We take a look at the key battles ahead of the Champions League quarter-final first-leg clash between Arsenal and holders Barcelona. Put simply, Messi is the best player in the world at the moment and will take quite some performance from Clichy – or indeed any of Arsenal’s back line – if he is to be contained. Samir Nasri v Maxwell Barca’s prowess at going forward in well documented but their weakness, if they have one, lies at the back, particularly in the left-back position where Maxwell will continue to play in the absence of Eric Abidal. Bacary Sagna v Thierry Henry It may be a little weird for Henry to line up against his beloved Gunners, but if he plays – Pedro stands a chance of getting the nod instead – Sagna will have to be on his toes. Henry has said he is up for the fight despite his conflicting emotions and, even though he will not celebrate if he scores, you wouldn’t bet against him grabbing a goal. Cue muted celebrations, maybe even an apologetic hand gesture, and yet more ‘respect’ from Arsenal fans. Sol Campbell v Zlatan Ibrahimovic …
