Cristiano Ronaldo dos Santos Aveiro, born February 5, 1985 in Funchal in Madeira in Portugal, a Portuguese footballer. He plays for the Portuguese national team and the English storklubben Manchester United.

Ronaldo was the first club Andorinha, where he played between the ages of eight to ten. In 1995 he was bought by the larger team Nacional. Ronaldo’s career continued in storklubben Sporting Lisbon, in which he played when he made his debut in the Portuguese superligan in 2002 at just seventeen years of age.

Cristiano Ronaldo is playing at the moment in Manchester United in the Premier League. He came to the club on 12 August 2003 from Sporting. United was interested in buying Ronaldo at a träningsmatch just against Sporting, and bought him later for 12.24 million pounds.

Ronaldo ranks as one of the world’s top footballers and was a member of the Portuguese national team which took silver at the European Football Championship 2004. Ronaldo had his international breakthrough in the European Championships at home, where he accounted for two goals and two assists combined.

The season 2006/2007, he contributed greatly to United won the league with their 17 wise (a total of 23 in 2006/2007) and has for years rewarded with 14 individual prizes. The first of these was that he was democratically to the league’s best player, which he once again was nominated as well this season (2007/2008). Ronaldo is, together with Thierry Henry, the only player who received the award two years in a row.

The 10 april 2007, he made his first two Champions League goal in kvartsfinalmatchen against AS Rome in which Manchester United won with incredible 7-1.

After his success with both club and national team during the year 2007 he was nominated for European Footballer of the Year (guldbollen), where he came 2 nd with 277 points. The winner was Kaká at 444 points. When FIFA appointed the world’s best footballers in 2007, Ronaldo was again one of the three players who became the nominee. It ended his three (Kaká also won this award).

The season 2007-2008 was Ronaldo 43 goals. 31 of them have come in the Premier League, nine in the Champions League and three in the FA Cup.
