He´s captain of the national team for the first time. Romanian player of the year. -In 1986 he´s topscorer of the league again, with 31goals at Sportul. -In 1987 he scores the winner goal in the European Supercup with Steaua. He wins the league. Romanian player of the year. -In 1988 he wins the league and reachs European cup semifinals with Steaua. -In 1989 he wins the league, reachs European cup final with Steaua and qualifies for WC 90 with Romania. -In 1990 he leaves Steaua with a balance of 76 goals in 97 league games, and a total in Romanian league of 141 goals in 222 games. He plays in WC 90.
